First post of the year, devoted to a small project born in December and still in progress, of which I present a preliminary part here.
The hobby and game shop where we hang out in Florence holds a painting competition every year called (with a wordplay) "Golden Lemon"- this is the same contest where D earned an informal second place last year with her gor. The shop gives freely to aspiring participants a specially made miniature which, once painted, can compete in a dedicated category with other examples of the same figure.
This year we got a miniature of a naked dwarf in a proud attitude, with one foot resting on a dice.

However, D chose to compete with some of her miniatures painted in the past. I instead decided to try my hand at the new miniature and as a point of reference, also due to the similarity of the face, I aimed for something not very pretentious....Paul Bonner!
The full nudity of the miniature raised the following question from which I started: "Why is this dwarf naked and why did he assume such a posture?". I therefore gave my own answer and decided to create a setting around the miniature, so that the whole thing took on a humorous tone.
Well...he's a nudist dwarf: not an easy lifestuyle choice in the grim world of Warhammer!
WIP: THE AXE
Having chosen the illustration of the crossbowman as a reference, I condemned myself to make most of the clothes and equipment that the dwarf takes off to proudly display his naked body. The first thing I wanted to try was the axe, which is partially visible behind the back, in his waistbelt.
Not having much confidence in my abilities as a sculptor with putty, I worked mainly with Evergreen polystyrene for the blade, a brass tube for the handle and tinfoil for the metal reinforcements. The filling between the parts and the bolts were done with milliput instead. I am quite satisfied with the result which, when painted with primer, appears uniform.

The next accessories I'm working on are the helmet and the belt, which I hope to show you soon.

Primo post dell'anno, dedicato a un piccolo progetto nato in dicembre ed ancora in svolgimento, di cui presento qui una parte preliminare.
Il negozio di hobby e giochi che frequentiamo a Firenze bandisce ogni anno un concorso di pittura chiamato, con un gioco di parole, "Golden Lemon"- si tratta dello stesso concorso dove D lo scorso hanno ha guadagnato un informale secondo posto con il suo gor. Il negozio distribuisce gratuitamente agli aspiranti partecipanti una miniatura appositamente realizzata e che, una volta dipinta, può competere in una categoria riservata con altri esemplari della stessa figura.
Quest'anno abbiamo ricevuto la miniatura di un nano nudo in atteggiamento fiero, con un piede posato su un dado.

D ha scelto di concorrere però con alcune delle sue miniature dipinte in passato; io ho deciso invece di cimentarmi con la nuova miniatura del nano, e come punto di riferimento, anche per la somiglianza del volto, ho puntato a qualcosa di poco pretenzioso....Paul Bonner!
Il nudo integrale della miniatura ha stimolato la seguente domanda dalla quale sono partito: "Perché questo nano è nudo e perché ha assunto una simile posizione?". Ho quindi elaborato una mia risposta e deciso di creare un'ambientazione intorno alla miniatura, così che l'insieme assumesse una sfumatura umoristica.
Beh...si tratta di un nano nudista: una scelta di vita niente affatto semplice nel duro mondo di Warhammer!
WIP: L'ASCIA
Avendo scelto come riferimento l'illustrazione del balestriere, mi sono condannato a realizzare in proprio gran parte dei vestiti e dell'equipaggiamento che il nano si sarà tolto per mostrare fieramente il suo corpo nudo. La prima cosa in cui ho voluto provarmi è stata l'ascia, che risulta parzialmente visibile dietro la schiena, infilata nella cintura.
Non avendo molta fiducia nelle mie capacita' di scultore con lo stucco, ho lavorato soprattutto con plasticard per la lama, un tubo di ottone per il manico e lamierino per i rinforzi di metallo. Le stuccatura tra le parti e i bulloni sono state fatte invece con milliput. Sono abbastanza soddisfatto del risultato che verniciato di primer si mostra uniforme.

I prossimi accessori cui sto lavorando sono l'elmo e la cintura, che spero di mostrarvi presto.
